Last night at the Teatro alla Scala was held the second edition of the Green Carpet Fashion Awards, one of the most anticipated and important events in the world of sustainable fashion.

Tiziano Guardini, awarded last year as the best emerging eco-designer, passed the torch to Gilberto Calzolari, who after a career of over 15 years in several prestigious international luxury brands, created his own brand in 2015. Calzolari won the award presenting a dress made of a combination of ‘poor’ and ‘rich’ materials but both natural: the vegetable fiber of jute bags coming from Brazilian coffee plantations and the Swarovski crystals that do not contain lead.

But there was another material protagonist of the evening and it was the denim of Isko, world leader in textile production, of which we have talked several times, not only because it is sustainable but because it sponsors events and collaborates with designers who have as focus sustainability.

All Isko products, from traditional denim fabrics to patented technologies, are created at the most advanced technological level, also using innovative and responsible fibers including organic cotton, recycled pre-consumer cotton, and post-consumer recycled polyester from PET bottles. This approach is precisely what led Isko to be the only denim mill worldwide awarded the EU Ecolabel and Nordic Swan Ecolabel for a selection of advanced low-impact denims in its Isko Earth Fit collection.

And in the past months Isko worked side by side with selected high-end fashion brands and designers including Tiziano Guardini, Tod’s and Laura Strambi, to created special looks with Isko denim for some special guests of the Green Carpet Fashion Awards.

And since we are passionate fans of Tiziano Guardini, we have put on the cover the regenerated denim and post-industrial silk dress he made for the catanese actress Stefania Spampinato, who worked in Gray’s Anatomy.

Denim then confirms its primary role as an ecological fabric, but not only, it also changes the perception that we all have always had of this material; designed for casual, sport or workwear, it becomes a red, even a green carpet fabric, like the most luxurious chiffon, silk, tulle and so on.
