Goodbye fur also for Michael Kors (and Jimmy Choo!)

I go back to my other day’s post about one of the 2017 strongest trend, that is eco-fashion and sustainability, because another designer, Michael Kors, one of the most important name of the American fashion, is going fur-free by 2018, so very soon.

For Kors it must have been a decision made especially on June 21st, when 20 animal rights activists broke into the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York during a designer’s speech; the activists occupied the stage and the balcony and imitated, shouting, the verses of the animals being killed for fur and showed cruel images and themed slogans like ‘fuck fur’. But the protests during the New York Fashion Week were constant even before the blitz, with signs and bloody puppets.

Due to technological advances in fabrications, we now have the ability to create a luxe aesthetic using non-animal fur,” stated designer Michael Kors “We will showcase these new techniques in our upcoming runway show in February.

The new policy will apply companywide, including the Jimmy Choo brand, which Kors acquired on July, so that also the iconic shoes brand will be fur-free.

Let’s go on like that, then, waiting for other excellent waivers. Eco-à-porter gets closer!
